Shanti

28 01 2010

Shanti is the ancient Sanskrit word for peace.

Hydrangea symbolizes friendship and understanding, the butterfly symbolizes new life or new beginning.

The small flowers are difficult to interpret in embroidery. I think I will do them in cut-out silk held by frenchknots or beads. The leaves will be a sampler of different stitches.

Half of the butterfly wings will be wired and detached. The grass will be the same as the Shalom iris-variety of yarns and ribbons. The helmet will not be padded, but might be of the same appliquéd material.

Thanks kseverny!
On the contrary, the Shalom iris took less than 2 hours including drying. And this one took only 3 hours, including drying.
The drawing took only around half an hour. I used a limited palette which i am familiar with because I am red and green color blind. I also could not tell violets from some blues, some yellows and oranges from ochre or green. I constructed a chart of some sort so my colors don´t look weird for others. lol! My painting teachers told me to paint as I see. I guess they are curious what will be the outcome. I already made self-portrait with green skin. haha. I thought I was using a flesh color.
