I am sorry for being ignorant but do you sketch the flowers by observing real flowers or you do it just from memory, I am very impressed with the details you show.

I mentioned in my earlier blog entry from which book the images are from.

You can view the book in my library blog.

You can read more about Pierre-Joseph Redouté (1759-1840) in the internet.

I can also sketch roses as I you can see here in my flickr album.

Rose 170 is my own sketch. Redouté only made 169 rose watercolor paintings in the book Les Roses.
